Isolde Kanikani......
'The improvised nature of Argentine Tango gives special moments of spontaneity and connection very hard to find elsewhere. I am Always in the process of self-development where dance and movement is concerned and love the process of teaching and creating a safe environment for people to learn. My aim in teaching is not only to explain specific movements within the dance, but to the bring about an understanding of Tango itself through a system of explanation that works throughout the many varied possibilies. Giving the student a chance to explore the frame work of tango as well as movements more specific vocabulary like ocho cortados, boleos or sacadas.
I have traveled all over the world in my search for inspiration for my dance and the inderstanding from this needed to teach. Since starting Argentine Tango I began to intensively explore other movement forms like Ballet, Contemporary dance, Flamenco, Shiatsu, Kung fu to name a few. These have given me a sense of the body thats like the world, each movement form is a continent or ocean, the more you explore different movements and dances, the more you understand the world of movement, the body and how to apply this to tango or anything else for that matter.
Along side this music and improvisation make every Tango dance unique. I love the fact that one piece of music can be interpreted in so many ways, depending on the individual hearing it. Then when you consider the amount of music available for us to dance to expression and improvisation are infinite.
